OURAY COUNTY ARTS ASSOCIATION

WAYNE MAYFIELD FINE ARTS SCHOLARSHIP

BELOW ARE THE REQUIREMENTS FOR APPLYING FOR THE WAYNE MAYFIELD FINE ARTS SCHOLARSHIP IN THE AMOUNT OF $1000.00   SPONSORED BY OCAA.

**VISUAL ARTS included the following; Fine arts: (painting, sculpture, drawing, print making, such as lithograph, mezzotint, engraving, wood block printing), Photography, Filmography, and Commercial Arts.  Visual arts are appreciated for their aesthetic excellence through the sense of sight.

Portfolio and application must be available by April 3, 2023.

  1. A student must be from Ouray County, Colorado, hold a 3.0 grade point average or better, and plan to major in some field of Visual Arts as defined above.
  2. A student must complete a digital portfolio containing no less than FOUR (4) ORIGINAL works of art which illustrate the following elements of design: line, shape, form, tone, texture, pattern and color.
  3. A student must have two letters of recommendation from teachers with whom the student has worked.
  4. A student must have a letter of acceptance from the college/school that the student will be attending.
  5. A student must submit an “Artists’ Statement”. This statement should provide OCAA with some personal background, with reasons for wanting to become an artist, and with academic and artistic goals included.

Scholarship funds will be paid directly to the college/school that the student attends.  If the student does not attend the college/school, the money will be returned to the Ouray County Arts Association.

Any student who has receives the Wayne Mayfield Scholarship is eligible to re-apply for a second year if no high school graduate applies during that academic year. A 3.0 average is necessary to re-apply.
